Meals are never just one specific item, but multiple courses of different foods. American's ideals for food are very different than Ecuador's look on it. With parents working later and later as time goes on, meals at home for families in America are just to put nutrients in your body. But in Ecuador, meals are a way to share quality time with your family and enjoy each other's company. This is the way many meals are eaten all across the Spanish speaking world.

Though a lot of meals eaten in Ecuador are home cooked, there is still the wide variety of fast food chains like America has. The major cities mostly feature these chains. Also, there are multi-cultural restaurants populating Ecuador's major cities.
